Dinner Party FAQs

Who may attend

CDI’s Wednesday dinner parties parties are open to all members of the transgender community.

Generally men (Admirers) are not allowed at the GenderCrossing dinner parties, as we want to provide a comfortable, safe, non-threatening environment for new participants just coming out of the closet. We do make an exception – closeted crossdressers who want to attend a dinner party for the first time yet are nervous about dressing.

With respect to admirers, we very much encourage your attendance at one of our restaurant outings, our Gala’s, or the night club crawl after our regular dinner parties.

Where are the dinners held?

CDI GenderCrossing dinner parties are hosted each Wednesday evening in Manhattan’s mid-town west theater district. Nowhere in NYC will you find a more LGBTQ+ friendly/safe neighborhood, where we are treated with respect and genuine affection.

While the majority of our dinner parties are hosted at our private clubhouse, we will on regular occasion (Valentine’s Day, St.Patricks day, Cinco-de-Mayo…) host our Wednesday dinners at one of our neighborhood’s many restaurants.

Additionally, on special occasions the regular dinner parties are supplanted by special theme-oriented Gala’s ( An evening in Paris, The American West….) which are also hosted at the clubhouse.

What to expect on your first visit

Generally we have between 10 and 16 ladies present unless there is a special speaker or other attraction in which case that number can increase significantly.

Two thirds of our attendees will change attire and do make-up on-site when they arrive, for which we have have four large/semi-private dressing rooms with 8 makeup stations. On a busy evening there may be a wait so if it takes you a long time to get ready we suggest you come early.

We open our doors at 5:00 pm for socializing and dressing/getting ready, followed by a sit down dinner at 7:30 pm.  Socializing continues after dinner, wrapping-up between 9:30 and 11:00 pm.

Often our attendees will go to a nearby bar after dinner for cocktails, music, and dancing. On these occasions the club will remain open until approx. midnight for those members who wish to pack-up before returning home.

What should I bring/wear?

Most members wear dresses or skirts, but slacks/stylish jeans are perfectly acceptable. Think neat-casual or business. Showing cleavage, high heels and shorts are acceptable.

Note: What is absolutely not acceptable is too-short skirts, the super slutty, prostitute or costume look. This is not a fantasy sex party so please don’t come if you are looking for a hook-up or any kind of fantasy play. Also, for our M2F ladies, please tuck your male bits well. Enough said.

Makeup Artist available

Among CDI’s mission’s is one to help those who want to overcome fear and develop their most passable gender presentations and mannerisms in a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment.

We have found that lack of confidence in makeup application is one of the biggest barriers to a CD’s coming out of the closet.  Therefore we have arranged for a licensed cosmetologist to be available for 45 minute sessions prior to the GenderCrossing Dinner Parties for only $50 plus a gratuity. Mia is herself gender fluid and can help show you how amazing you can look, as well as teach you the make-up skills you will be using on your journey forward. Remember to bring your camera for great pictures afterward!

To schedule an appointment with Mia: Text 917 209 0897 or  email mianyc@yahoo.com

Dinner reservations are essential!

Also, for our out of town visitors – if you miss the dead-line just drop us a note and we will do our best to accommodate you. We love guests from near and afar and love to show our guests real NY Transgender hospitality. Here is our email address CDIcommunity@gmail.com
