CDI is a New York City based social organization for members of the Transgender community in all its forms.
Thirty-two years ago our founders envisioned CDI to be an all-inclusive, welcoming haven for those seeking to explore and come to terms with their transgender identities. When our organization was founded the majority of the members and friends identified as crossdressers, something which has changed as the community as a whole has developed a more nuanced understanding of gender-identity.
We now have members from all corners of the Transgender spectrum whose committed relationship expressions are as varied as their gender identities. And although our community primarily consists of M2F identified members we fully support and encourage members of the F2M community to join us.
Our Mission
• We provide a physically safe, private space for those who are taking their very first steps of self-discovery. We know from our own experience that first steps out into the world can be a frightening time for those who have been closeted.
Our discreet 1500 square foot clubhouse in mid-town west is in the middle of the most LGBTQ+ friendly neighborhood in NYC. The hundreds of restaurants and businesses in the neighborhood not only treat us with respect, they openly encourage our business and treat us as valued friends.
• We act as a big sister/big brother/community resource along your journey. Believe it, you are not alone. Where you are – we’ve been there too. We make no claims of being “expert” in all matters, yet through our individual and collective experience we are highly knowledgeable in just about every aspect of the Transgender experience.
We have taken that “first walk in public” with countless persons, and helped them grow to be the confident, self-assured trans-persons they only dreamed they could be.
• We are a home base of operations. For those who would like private closet space to keep a wardrobe and relax while getting ready to head out on the town we have a limited number of 24/7 access “Key-Holder” memberships available from time to time.

• We have fun – We are a vibrant community of close friends who enjoy each other’s company immensely.
We get together every week at our club-house for superbly prepared dinners and camraderie. We go to Transgender conferences together, do restaurant outings in the city, and sail on lazy afternoons in the NY harbor. We get together for evening cocktails in the neighborhood and do concerts from Carnegie Hall & Lincoln Center to the Beacon, City Winery, and beyond.
• We support and promote those leading the effort for LGBTQ+ rights and other calls for social justice by our voices, our presence at events, and our continuing financial support.
We strongly believe that we have a responsibility to carry the efforts made by our predecessors forward to create a better world as each day passes.
